Depart Nairobi early morning using a shared public shuttle service to Nanyuki town (approx. 3–4 hours). After a short break, transfer to Sirimon Gate (2,600m) for park entry formalities. Begin your trek through montane forest and bamboo zones, spotting wildlife such as colobus monkeys and forest antelopes. The trail gradually ascends into moorland, with giant heather and tussock grass. Trekking distance ~9 km (3–4 hours). Dinner and overnight at Old Moses Camp (3,300m). Expectation: First acclimatization night, cool temperatures, and clear views of Mount Kenya’s peaks at sunset.
After breakfast, trek across moorland and alpine zones. Cross valleys and ridges including Mackinder’s Valley, with spectacular views of giant lobelias and senecios.
